If you have travelled to Noosa before you have probably enjoyed the likes of Noosa’s Main Beach, you will have done the surf lessons & enjoyed playing on the beach with kids. So for those looking for a different sort of beach day, parents grab a coffee, strap on your sneakers and set off on one of Australia’s most breathtaking coastal walks- don’t worry it’s easy walking for all ages and plenty of spots to stop off with the kids along the way. This newly refurbed boardwalk skims across the cliff and hill tops that line Noosa’s southern end; offering non-stop viewing pleasure. This beautiful walk will take you to the hidden beaches and bays that boast clear, turquoise waters, idyllic surf conditions & seclusion.
Located along the Noosa boardwalk, Little Cove & Tea Tree Bay are two of Noosa National Park’s four small, secluded, pocket beaches, and are lined with pandanus trees and renowned for their beauty and world class surfing conditions. Tea Tree Bay is deemed by “Best Beaches” judges to be one of Australia’s top 10 beaches, so it is absolutely worth a visit. Kids will love to discover the marine wildlife in the rock pools on low tide, while adults will relish the opportunity to enjoy a picnic or a snooze under the shade canopy on the large, flat rocks. Closer to home at just 100m long, Little Cove is also great for families, and boasts a cobbled beach with a small creek running through the middle. Equally as beautiful as Tea Tree Bay, Little Cove has very small waves, making it a great location for wading in the shallow waters. These two spots are our local’s tip for escaping the crowds of Noosa Main Beach & on the way home, cash in your ice cream voucher as a treat for the kids!
Another Noosa gem is its pristine river system, which is brimming with both bird life and water sport options. Wander along the water’s edge of Gympie Terrace, hire a stand up paddle board, jet ski or fishing boat. Or if you prefer to explore on wheels why not hire bikes and explore the area this way. Located on the western end of Gympie Terrace you will find Noosa’s Pirate Park, one of Noosa’s many great playgrounds for all ages & it’s located right next to the Noosa Yacht Club for a quick bite to eat while watching the sunset (Noosa’s best sunsets can be experienced from the Noosa River). The Noosa Ferry will get you over to the river if you are travelling without a car and you can even jump on and off at any of the vessel’s pick up points as you please. Another great option which is just metres from us is the Lions Park located along the river canals, it has plenty of room for a game of cricket or kicking around a ball, it has a great playground and is safe for the little kids to have a paddle in the water. You can hire also hire kayak’s & SUP boards to use in this area too.
For a different kind of adventure why not head off to Noosa North Shore & enjoy the offerings of the Noosa North Shore Getaway Bar & Bistro! We recommend heading over for lunch. Parents you can eat in peace while your children enjoy the great activities which include putt putt golf, massive jumping pillow, indoor rock climbing, laser tag & ping pong. Better still the kids will be exhausted afterwards & we are sure they will enjoy the car ferry trip over & back too!
Some other great options for day trips include Australia Zoo, Wildlife HQ & The Big Pineapple, Aussie World, Ginger Factory & Sea Life Mooloolaba. Or explore further a field with an Epic Ocean Adventure.
